Larry Peterson Spotlighted in the Ultimate Challenge Newsletter

Many of you have met Larry. He is a friend of Steve Wasden and has ridden the Rexburg TNR.

Rider Spotlight:
Larry Peterson, Centerville, Utah (71 years young)

Larry got his first road bike late in the summer of 2005 and fell in love with cycling. Each year he raises the bar for riding, doing 30 or more rides of a 100 miles or more with a total mileage of over 10,000 miles each of the past five years.

He started training early in 2015 with 1100+ miles in Spain and England, then 700 miles from Reno to Salt Lake City, and 900 miles in Montana and the Canadian Rockies, along with many shorter rides in between. It was the first time Larry had ridden The Ultimate Challenge, finishing the Long Route in a time of 7 hours and 40 minutes. He also followed this ride with a third place finish (55+ Masters) in the 157-mile Tour de Park City and a first place finish in the 202-mile Lotoja (60+ Masters), with a time of 9:43.

"Looking back, The Ultimate Challenge was the most challenging of any single-day rides this year. I have ridden all of the roads before so knew the course, but this was the first time to put it all together. The varied terrain and temperatures and the long, tough climbs make this an epic event.  Would I recommend the Ultimate Challenge to others? Absolutely, but you better put in lots of training time before you cross the start line.
